#99: Nine Medals Brought Home By ITL poomsae Athletes, Including Gold In Beach Category

ITL’s Poomsae team brought in a whopping nine medals at the 6th Range Online International Open Poomsae & Para Championships, with an overall first-place finish in the Beach Poomsae division.

The team was led by coach Jovo Mirkovic, who got one gold and a silver in his own categories. He took part with fellow athletes Alyanna De Leon (kids), Fatma Azzam (kids), Nia Tabakova (seniors) and THF athlete Anhelina Hladenova (juniors).

Held on the 6th July 2025, the following athletes achieved the following honours in their respective individual poomsae categories:

  1. Alyanna De Leon (silver medal)

  2. Anhelina Hladenova (silver medal)

  3. Nia Tabakova (silver medal)

  4. Fatma Azzam (bronze medal)

ITL/THF athlete Anhelina Hladenova.

Despite the delivery of a strong performance, coach Jovo and Aliyah did not get a podium finish in their own respective individual category.

Meanwhile, Anhelina Hladenova became the first ITL Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF) athlete to find the podium since the foundation of the THF initiative, last January.

The team also took part in the ‘pair poomsae’ division. Here, coach Jovo and Aliyah teamed up, and secured a silver medal.

The final category saw Jovo and Alyanna join forces for the beach poomsae championship, to which the pair struck gold.

The team’s beach poomsae performance led them to a first-place finish in that respective division; while the whole team, with just six players, managed to finish in 11th in the whole tournament.

This competition marked the fourth-ever competition undertaken by the ITL poomsae contingent, managed by coach Jovo. The first was at the Malta Invitational Games last November, a competition that saw Jovo walk away with a silver and cadet athlete Sinan Koruk, with gold in their respective groups. The second took place last March, with the team winning one gold and two silvers, and the third, last May, saw three medals return to the club.

On behalf of the ITL, we would like to congratulate the athletes and their coach for being a part of this event.
